Some dreams never really leave you.
For me, this one started at 18 years old.
After graduating from cosmetology school, I opened my first tanning salon in Cañon City, Colorado. A few years later, the business had grown enough to open a second location in the small town of Penrose, where we offered UV tanning, hair and nail services, tanning lotions, and professional hair products.
It was one of the most fun businesses I had ever owned—and even after life took me in many different directions, that little piece of the beauty industry always held a special place in my heart.
I just didn’t know then that more than 30 years later, I would come back to it.
Beauty Was Always More Than Skin Deep
My love for beauty and wellness began long before Blonde & Bronzed Atelier.
My mother taught me at a very young age that taking care of yourself matters. She believed in caring for her skin, maintaining her beauty routine, and aging gracefully. She was incredibly youthful throughout her life, and after losing her in 2013, those lessons became even more meaningful to me.
They weren’t simply lessons about skincare.
They were lessons about taking pride in yourself.
About making time for yourself.
About understanding that caring for yourself isn’t selfish.
Those are lessons I carried into adulthood and passed along to my own children—and today, they are woven into the foundation of Blonde & Bronzed Atelier.
Coming Full Circle
Over the next three decades, my career took me far beyond the beauty industry.
I spent approximately 20 years owning and operating our family’s heavy-equipment business, following a legacy my parents had built through construction, trucking, drilling, and blasting. I was also the sole owner of a successful bail bonding and private investigation company for nearly 17 years and pursued a number of other entrepreneurial investments along the way.
Business has always been in my blood.
But eventually, I reached a point in my life when success alone wasn’t enough.
I wanted to build something I genuinely loved.
After living in Las Vegas for nearly seven years, I had the opportunity to watch my daughter, Keyara, grow as a cosmetologist and extension artist while building her brand in the high-end beauty markets of Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Miami.
Watching her brought something back to life in me.
The beauty industry I remembered had changed dramatically. It was no longer simply hair and tanning. Beauty had evolved into wellness, technology, and experiences centered around helping people look and feel their best.
And suddenly, that dream I had carried for years made perfect sense again.
When our family relocated back to Colorado in 2026, I knew it was time.
We wanted to bring a little bit of Vegas home to Pueblo West.
Finding the Place We Were Meant to Be
I spent nearly a year searching for the right location because, in business, location truly is everything.
Then I found North Market Plaza.
What happened next felt almost too perfect to be coincidence.
My parents had spent more than 30 years in the construction industry, and when I met the owner of the property, I discovered that he had known my father and had worked closely with him many years earlier.
It felt like one of those moments when life quietly tells you: This is where you’re supposed to be.
So we took the leap.
We invested our hearts, our time, our energy—and yes, a small fortune—into turning an empty space into the vision we had carried in our heads.
There were long days, even longer nights, and more cups of coffee than I would ever admit to.
There were nights when we went home completely exhausted, only to come back the next morning saying: “Okay… I have another idea.”
Because in this family, “good enough” has never really been good enough.
Somewhere between the coffee, the disagreements, and the laughter, Blonde & Bronzed Atelier began to become exactly what we imagined.
Built by Family
Of everything we created, this may be the part I am proudest of.
Family has always been the center of my life.
Building this salon together has reminded us that families can challenge one another and still build something extraordinary together.
We are strong. We are driven. We are perfectionists.
And yes, I’m a Capricorn, so there may be just a tiny bit of stubbornness involved.
But that stubbornness has also taught me never to give up on something I truly believe in.
The work ethic passed down from my parents continues through our family today. Blonde & Bronzed represents a family legacy built on entrepreneurship, hard work, and resilience.
Why Blonde & Bronzed Atelier?
The name tells its own little story.
Blonde is personal. It represents beauty, confidence, and transformation. Bronzed represents that beautiful glow that makes you feel put together—because we believe good hair and a good glow can improve almost any day.
And Atelier is French for “workshop” or an artist’s studio. It reminds us that beauty is a craft. We are always learning, creating, and perfecting.
Even our black-and-gold aesthetic has a story. It felt elegant, bold, feminine, and strong. For us, Black and gold felt like us.
What Luxury Means to Us
Luxury is a feeling.
It’s walking through the door and realizing you come first. It is being welcomed warmly. It is beautiful surroundings, exceptional products, and attention to detail.
It is being pampered without feeling guilty.
We created Blonde & Bronzed Atelier for the woman who has decided she’s tired of basic. And especially for anyone who believes self-care doesn’t have an expiration date.
There is no age limit on feeling beautiful.
More Than a Salon
We never wanted Blonde & Bronzed Atelier to feel like a basic salon.
We wanted to create an experience that feels a little like you’ve escaped somewhere else. A touch of Vegas, a little bougie, and a lot of luxury.
But ultimately, how you feel when you leave is the most important part.
We want you to walk out standing a little taller, feeling more confidence, and thinking: “There she is.”
A Dream Five Years in the Making
I carried this dream in my heart for five years and never gave up on it.
Building Blonde & Bronzed Atelier has reminded me that nothing truly worthwhile comes easily.
There will be challenges. There will be setbacks. Keep going anyway.
Because if you believe strongly enough and refuse to settle, extraordinary things can happen. If someone asked me why I was willing to risk so much, my answer is simple: We are all living on borrowed time.
If there’s something in your heart that you know you’re supposed to do, don’t wait for the perfect moment. Take the chance. Build the dream. Wear the blonde. Get the glow.
